Of the four maths teachers (in training) in the car this morning only one didn’t have his calculator out (he was driving, but the traffic was slow enough that he would have had his not been in the boot). Why? They’d discovered the joy of programming.

Sunday, January 27th, 2008Most unenthusiastic day ever. I had such a good weekend I didn’t want to do any work, and had such a lazy start to the day, I think I might subconsciously pretend to be hungover like I do with being drunk. It was too hard to stay awake during the end of Dr. No in the evening, so I took a nap that felt like five hours, or forever, but was just one hour long.

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008Every time I spoke [outside the house] today seemed to be followed by a silent pause. It could have been any number of things, but it felt like I was always saying things wrong.

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008The sneezing, sniffing and coughing I can deal with, but that’s two weeks of blocked ears I could have done without.

Monday, January 21st, 2008I don’t have a B.O. problem! So glad to have that concern off my shoulders (or, you know, out from under).
However, it’s interesting to notice other people’s smells. As well as today’s perspetrator the other night someone had really bad breath. I didn’t want to make them feel bad about it, but I didn’t want people to think it was me, so I asked if they had any chewing gum.

Friday, January 18th, 2008Went out with my classmates (three of which I carpool with) for the first time last night. Good to get to know some of them a bit and to slice up the atmosphere.
And tonight I finally had a shared dinner with my housemates (after living with them for three months).
P.S. O.M.G. Russell Brand’s in a movie with Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) and a number of other interesting people.

Thursday, January 17th, 2008Okay, need to be up by 11:00 (actually there by 11:00!) so should get some sleep. But still quite drunk, home alone (not counting my seven housemates.
[Edit - Micky's niece (nine days old) is called Tobi (but with an 'e') as well!]

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008It wasn’t until we’d past under the bridge that my classmate and driver remarked about the person seen to be on the wrong side of the railings above us. It took a while before I realised he meant the railings of the small bridge. Later in the supermarket I heard from the other driver who ought to have been not far behind us that he was still stuck in traffic. At first I thought the stranger had become a jumper, but it’s perhaps just as likely (because I don’t know those statistics) that the road was closed to make from the stranger’s choices less selfish and murderous.

Saturday, January 12th, 2008I saw The King today (a great movie, not Elvis), but the feeling wasn’t meant to last. I got home to the news I’ve been dreading for months.
I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to feel some real anger so I grabbed a special bottle of leftovers to drink before I met the others and got Derek to play all the right tracks to fuel a rage. I kept it going as long as I could but I got there first and had a very drunk ex-local tell me his mother recently died. I wouldn’t have been able to muster any more anger once my friends arrived anyway, but that ’sobered’ me up before then.
