Coincidence: People were talking about Babel in the car today and I brought up Crash (cringe-inducing, but deserves its credit), and how although I saw the blanks coming the best bits were the scene I saw as a promo (giving the daughter the cloak) and its follow-up (the shooting). It wasn’t until the credits were rolling on Shooter tonight (Colin needs to throw some stuff out so I was looking for the longest movie I’m not going to give more than two stars to) that I wondered if the supporting actor was the father from the scenes I mentioned. A few webpages later and I find he was in Babel but there’s no mention of his story line. Then I realise Babel≠Crash and find he was also the father in Crash. Coincidence? Similar movie choice? Disproportionally/disproportionately small amount of Mexican American actors? or just what happens when starring in three films each year?
